Hey... You know what could be cool? (From the millionaire topic.)
Everyone here make one movie....
Here is how it could work...

1. Someone (or a few ppl) writes a script...
The script could be made up of a number of different stories that interconnect with each other, but take place all over the world with different actors... Get it?

2. Then, everyone who wants in, is given a copy of the script (through e-mail) and we all make changes to it... then a new draft is made with every possible change added
and we all vote for the each change...

3. Each person (or ppl?) selects or are given a piece of the script to direct/producer etc.

4. Each person goes out and gets their actors, ect. and films (on what ever camera type/ film type, etc. they wish) and edits their piece of the script.

5. Everyone sends their reels/ of tapes (I can get a hold of BETA decks, anything almost... I can also convert Euro. tapes to North A tapes...) to me! I use the script and it all gets put together.

6. Copies are made of the final product and sent off to everyone involved and if it is good enough we send it off to festivals all around the world...

it's been tried before...

Montage Pictures

started off with over 25 people (I was one of them), then no one would committ (me too).
Eventually it broke down to two people doing all the work...

it doesn't really work well, because you've got 12 people wanting to direct it, 4 people arguing about the script, and the rest of them just being a pain-in-the-arse...

I don't want to put a downer on your idea, because it's a GREAT IDEA in theory, however it don't work well!!!

The reason I left it was down to the fact that if I was going to spend all my time on someone elses movie... I'd rather make my own!

How about this idea:
A bunch of ppl who have never met come together and play their part in seeing the director's vision come to fruition.

I think there is definitely a reason that the current model works so well ... one director, one vision (good or bad!!)

5YLAC Films, started off in this forum back in september with the basis of getting people across the web working together on a feature film, after 10 months were still around.

At one time i had over 60 people promising hte earth to get involved, and very soon realised that 99% of work was being done by one group of people, solution kick eveyrone else off, im now down to roughly 20 crew and thigns are moving along pretty nicely we have distribution deal in place , about to sign a major band and signing a nice receipt for a 6 zero budget.

Thing is, it aint easy and to run a project like this from the internet you have got to be 110 % commited , give up all chance of getting sleep and become a caffeine smoking alcoholic :-)

and the most important thing is to get a damm good , talented commited people behind you which i luckily have.

the old saying that there are Jaw bones, the knuckle bones and the back bones. and in this industry the jaw bones outnumber everyone else 10 fold

It is nice to see that things seem to be working out for a few groups of people. But don't forget about Montage Pictures, the worlds first internet based production company(maybe not, but who cares). We started off like a house on fire with people coming out of the wood work form all parts of the globe, but they soon crawled back into it when they realised that they might have to do something other than direct the feature(problem is everyone wants to be a director these days, I would have been happy doing anything). Anyway its just me and Cash left now, and things couldn't be better.Look out for our first feature 'The Hunted' coming soon.You can check out the website(still under major construction www.thehunted.co.uk
